We all think of roses as being gentle and romantic. But because of the spontaneous inky technique I use for my Fantastic Flowers paintings, my roses also gain a robustness. They're soft but also thorny. And able to stand up strong and independently, each one in its own vase.
I really liked seeing that in them, and they reminded me of people. How certain people can look so delicate, yet they have massive strength when it's needed.
I knew there was only one title for this painting: Three Delicate Roses. I liked that the contrast between our usual expectation of what roses represent and the sturdiness of the roses we're actually seeing might make us think about appearances. And perhaps about those we know who could be described as 'delicate roses', a name that belies the internal strength we witness in them every now and then.
Purposely bold, bright and lively, my Fantastic Flowers prints are a selection of colourful statement-piece artworks taken from my original paintings in acrylic inks. Created with movement, energy and freedom, the Fantastic Flowers collection is the epitome of expressive floral art.
Don't miss the rich colour and exciting thorny details in this one!
